A man from Australia who jumped past a barrier and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was sentenced to nine days in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to news outlets.
Wen pushed beyond security and rushed toward the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.
The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.
The celebrity has spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in spring of 2017 killed 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.
During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event multiple times, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Protection personnel prevented him and pinned him down.
He then uploaded videos appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Police detained him the following day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was referenced by Channel News Asia as remarking that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was incorrect to think he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not spoken about the incident.
Erivo mentioned the event to a media outlet, saying that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was safe."
"I believe he had no intention to us danger, but you can't predict with those things, and I sought to confirm that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
