Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
