More than 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan region eastern sector of Darfur starting Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration agency.
The important central zone separating the country's Darfur regions and the Khartoum-Riverine region has during recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the militia group.
An estimated 36,825 people fled five districts in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.
The individuals, mainly traveling by foot, moved toward Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 refugees.
Residents of North Kordofan on Monday reported a substantial rise in both RSF and army presence across urban and rural areas throughout the state.
Both military groups are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a critical supply and command center that joins Darfur to Khartoum.
"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently distributed video declaration.

The church leader on Sunday appealed for an quick cessation of hostilities and the opening of aid passageways in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."
Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday charged RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not engage with the militia organization.
The ambassador further encouraged the international community to designate the group as a terrorist entity.
